Nicki Coertze, 58, was enjoying a beautiful African vacation in Kruger National Park when he saw a small pink figure prancing across the plains.
As it moved closer, surrounded by a huge herd of elephants, Coertze was astonished to see a small albino calf. Like any young elephant, its ears were floppy, and its feet stomped on the dusty earth. But its skin tone was uniquely pink, very appropriate for a baby girl.
“I took some lovely shots of the pink elephant,” Coertze told the Daily Mail. “Some of the shots show it framed by the legs of another elephant. You can really see the contrast in color between the two as the calf shows off its unique pinkness beautifully.”
Coertze has visited this national park since he was a kid. Still, he had never witnessed an albino elephant.
“Bearing that in mind, I have an idea that this is a once-in-a-lifetime sighting for me.”
