In 2015, Corporal Caleb Earwood and his bride, Maggie, were getting married. The couple wanted to say a prayer before they walked down the aisle.
Caleb carefully remained outside, while Maggie stood in the doorway. He faced away from her and she away from him. However, when she grabbed his hand in prayer, the high school sweethearts began to break down.
“We planned on doing a prayer before the wedding, before we started our lives together. As soon as she grabbed my hand, I got real emotional,” Caleb responded.
All of it was captured by the wedding photographer, and the photo quickly went viral on Memorial Day two years ago.
“Yeah, it was really special to know that the person I was going to marry was praying for our lives,” Maggie said. “I thought it was an amazing picture, and to be able to see that — I’ll be able to cherish it for the rest of my life.”
“I have photographed a lot of weddings. This has to be one of the best things I have ever got to see, much less photograph,” photographer Dwayne Schmidt said. “Before the ceremony and before they saw each other, Caleb said a prayer for their marriage and lives.”
Even the photographer struggled to keep his cool during the touching moment.
“The whole room was full of emotion,” Dwayne said. “I tried not to cry and focus on what I was doing.”
