Ex-soldier, Mitch Hunter, 35, got severely disfigured in a car accident when he was 21. His face became completely unrecognizable after he smashed into a 10,000-volt electrical utility pole. The electricity struck his foot and went through his entire body up to his face that appeared to be damaged the most.
His friend was driving, and Hunter managed to save the friend’s girlfriend and put his own life in danger. However, later, when Hunter was in a coma, this friend was claiming that Hunter was driving the car.
For many years the man had been trying to get adjusted to his face, but even children in the streets were afraid of him. So he decided to apply for face transplantation operation and was one of the first people in the world who had had it done.
His face changed considerably, and it allowed the man to have a normal life. So now he can boast about having a beard. During a question and answer session on Reddit Hunter said: “It’s the donors beard, hair follicles come with skin.”
And here’s what one of Reddit user asked Hunter: “The transplant looks great, I’m still trying to figure out how you survived being shocked for that long! Five minutes is a lifetime. Have the doctors ever discussed with you how you managed to get through it?”
Here’s what Hunter replied: “I tell them my sense of humor go me through it all.”
‘Don’t worry about offending me, it’s damn near impossible, I make fun of my shortcomings all the time!’
