Back in 2015, in the first week of auditions for the hit show, “The X Factor UK,” a nervous, 17-year-old contestant by the name of Louisa Johnson made her way to the stage.
Unfortunately, her nerves were beginning to get the best of her.
Frantically licking her lips, breathing deeply, and clutching the microphone as if her life depended on it, she tried to introduce herself to the judges.
Simon was quick to question her statement of “I’ve literally been working my whole life towards this moment,” which caused laughter from the audience.
After all, she was only 17, but she had been singing since she was 7-years-old.
Then, judge Cheryl Fernandez-Versini had to give the contestant some advice: “Breathe. I can hear your nerves in your voice!”
Johnson then said she was going to sing “Who’s Loving You?” by Michael Jackson, which caused Simon’s eyes to widen.
Michael Jackson songs are notoriously difficult to sing.
Once again, Fernandez-Versini told the teen to take some deep breaths, and that she did.
And apparently, that was all she needed.
The moment the song started and she sang her first booming note, Simon’s head shot up, and a surprised smile grew on his face.
Johnson continued to stun with her rendition of the classic song, and by the end of it, the judges were on their feet, leading the cheers and applause for her!
Johnson went on to win the 2015 edition of “The X Factor UK,” and is currently working on her first album.
