Puppy Was Returned To The Shelter Because He’s Deaf. Now He’s Looking For Someone To Hear Him Out

A 10-month-old-dog was recently dropped off at the shelter because he was deaf and the owners couldn’t care for him anymore.

The dachshund mix and his brother were brought back by the couple from Hungary to the United Kingdom shelter called The Mayhew Animal Home.

“The owners had started off with good intentions,” the London animal shelter explained in a release. “The owners thought that because Bob was deaf, they would need to dedicate more time to looking after him, so in the end they decided to rehome him.”

Bob had no other choice but to leave his brother and the family he’d known behind.

When Bob arrived at the shelter, a team of veterinarians noticed something was wrong with Bob….

“When Bob first came in, he had a lack of appetite, diarrhea, vomiting and displayed neurological signs such as circling, falling over and balance problems,” Dr. Emily Richardson, a veterinarian for The Mayhew told the Dodo.

After tests, it seemed that an ear infection was the main cause of Bob’s pain and has been treated fully since. Perhaps it was the stress of getting left behind by your family that was the main cause of his illness.

“Bob is a lovely comical little boy, who is so confident and doesn’t let his deafness or balance problems get in the way,” Lisa Guiney, dog adoption officer at The Mayhew, told the Dodo. “He has quickly picked up lots of commands like sit, stay, down, come and few tricks too by body language, hand signals and reading faces. He compensates for his lack of hearing with his huge personality.”
