Promposals are all the rage right now. The internet is packed full of adorable images and videos of crafty high schoolers coming up with clever and romantic ways to ask one of their schoolmates to prom. While it can be challenging to say which out of all of these amazing ideas is the best, there was one that definitely won over the internet’s hearts without question.

Shaedon Wedel of Newton High School decided to ask his best friend’s younger sister to prom in a pretty cheesy way. The 18-year-old asked Carlie Wittman, a 15-year-old freshman with Down syndrome to prom by incorporating her favorite food in the surprise.

Shaedon donned a bright read t-shirt with the text: “I know I’m Nacho typical Dorito, but I’m going to be Liked Video and ask: will you go to prom with me?”

The sweet senior says that Doritos have always been a favorite snack of Carlie’s, and she was overcome with excitement by his offer. Shaedon and Carlie’s brother had always planned to take her to their prom, but when Carlie’s brother wanted to take his girlfriend, Shaedon stepped in to make sure she felt like “a princess”.

“She gets excited about the littlest things, but when she saw what was going on, she started crying out of excitement.” Shaedon said. The adorable image of the two after Shaedon’s promposal quickly went viral, and the internet couldn’t get enough of the cheesy duo.

After seeing the Dorito-loving duo on the news, a couple from Wisconsin wanted to step in and make sure their night at prom was even more amazing. Floyd and Norma Grode have a daughter of their own named Cathy who has cerebral palsy, and they felt connected to Carlie’s story, as it made them especially happy to see someone with special needs experiencing such a wonderful surprise.

The couple decided to present Carlie with a beautiful princess-style gown for her big night from their other daughter Kay’s dress shop. Since they live a few states away, the Grodes video-called Carlie and showed her the beautiful rhinestone blue gown. Carlie was touched, and brought to tears again by someone’s kindness. The Grodes and their daughters hope to all meet Carlie someday.

Carlie’s date Shaedon is equally as happy and touched by the amount of support friend, family, and strangers alike have shown them. “It was the sweetest story. We are all so thankful for what people have donated and offered us and we couldn’t be more happy with the turnout of all of this. Carlie is counting down the days.»

Carlie’s gown is absolutely stunning and we’re sure she will be the belle of the ball at prom! It is wonderful to see complete strangers showing this excited teen so much kindness.

What a great story, indeed!
