Jakeem Tyler, a teenager that works in Chick-fil-A, got into a serious car accident. The 18-year old was injured, but he headed back to work in a neck brace and an arm sling just days after the crash.
The guy amazed one of the diners, Cameron Nelson who captured a now-viral photo of Jakeem bandaged up behind the cash register. The man also asked him why he had come to work instead of staying at home and recovering. The young cashier‘s response left the man stunned. “He said he was involved in a car accident, but he was working cause he needs the money & also wants to feed the homeless for Christmas & needs the cash,” Nelson wrote in the viral post on Facebook.
People from all over the world saw the picture of Jakeem and got inspired by his commitment and eagerness to help others. Some people who knew the guy personally confirmed he really has “a heart of gold”.
The devoted Chick-fil-A worker said, “Since I was seven my family and I were feeding the homeless in Hampton Roads, Virginia, after service on Sundays. My faith guides me in everything I do. I’ve always had a heart to give and wanted to share God’s love to everyone.”
The astonished users decided to help the guy in his mission and created a GoFundMe page which has raised more than $11,000. According to Jakeem, the donations will be used to “feed the homeless downtown, multiple times.”
