And there are so many special little DIY touches you can make around the house to beautify your home, improve its organization, and increase its storage for little or no money.

1.) Hide Your Thermostat Controls
Hanging a painting by some hinges to your wall is the perfect way to hide a thermostat box.
2.) Use a Shoe Organizer in the Pantry
Hang a plastic pocket shoe organizer in your pantry and fill it with snack items. This will cut down on the number of boxes you have to fit in your pantry and utilizes a space that wasn’t being previously used.
3.) Stop Buying Swifter Pads
Use a pair of fuzzy socks instead of buying Swifter pads. You can toss this one in the wash and keep reusing it.
4.) Magnetize Your Hammer
Glue a magnet to the bottom of your hammer so you don’t have to always search for nails or hold those dirty things in your mouth.
5.) Hang Your Ironing Board With Coat Hangers
Place two coat hangers about 6 inches apart and hang your ironing board from it.
6.) Use Command Hooks
These babies can work miracles in your home, especially if you live in a place where you can’t put holes in the walls. There are pretty much endless things you can do with Command Hooks, but they work great for storage like hanging bibs from behind the highchair or using them to hang your curling iron.
7.) Classy Detergent Bottles
If you buy in bulk and can’t stand the sight of those gigantic detergent bottles, you can put it in one of those fancy glass drink dispensers to make your laundry room look neat and classy.
8.) Use Mail Organizers to Store Shoes
Mail organizers or magazine holders are a perfect place to store flip flops and flats.
9.) Keep Paint in a Jar
After you’re done painting a room, make sure you save a little bit of paint in a baby jar and have it on hand for when you need to make a touch-up.
10.) Shoe Organizers for Your Water Bottles
Are there always water bottles rolling out of your cabinets every time you open them? Store them in an over-the-door shoe organizer and they’ll always stay in place.

Cut a foam pool noodle in half and screw it to your wall to prevent your doors from scratching your walls.

Stuff your plastic grocery bags inside of an empty tissue box to keep those bags from taking over your cabinets.
18.) Tennis Ball Holder
Glue a suction cup to the back of a tennis ball and slit a hole in the front. The slit or “mouth” will hold all sorts of items like mail, a pen, or a sweatshirt. Googley eyes are optional.

Cut the side off of a hollow book-shaped box, decorate it and use it to hide your ugly router.

A squeegee can be used to remove pet hair from carpets and upholstery.
