It can benefit you and your health, in the long run, so from time to time, it’s smart to take a break from social media and turn to a good set of intriguing, brain-busting questions. Here are 25 intriguing questions that will make you itch your head and maybe even research the answer. So get your thinking caps on and try out these questions! Answers are provided, but make sure you try one on your own before you look.
Here’s the first question, to test your airplane knowledge: According to IATA (International Air Transport Association), these two passengers must not sit together in the same row in the airplane…who are these two people? Think about it, take some time…alright. Ready for the answer? It’s Cats and Dogs! I mean, that is a pretty tricky question but at the same time, I guess it’s kind of common sense right? If you got that one right, good job!
2. Moving on from airplanes to buses, here is the next tricky question to warm up your brain. A group of women decides to go onto a local bus. The bus is not crowded at all, yet they still all decide to sit at the back. Why would they do that? This one is not as obvious, but if you are pretty cultured, you’d figure that you are in Iran, where small kids and all women have to sit at the back of the bus. Tricky question that definitely makes you itch your head!
3. History knowledge is not required for this tricky question. Just use common sense! In 1445, the church bells in Moscow started ringing all at the same time on their own. The people believed that they were facing an apocalypse. The same thing happened in 1091 in Kiev and again in 1802 in Moscow. What do you think was the reason for the ‘doomsday’? 4. Okay, this is a pretty tricky question but if you really take a deep breath, turn off your phone and FOCUS you are sure to figure it out. Ready for it? What is easy to get into but difficult to get out of? Take your time, the answer is more obvious than you think. Alright, here is the answer: it’s trouble. Yepp, trouble. Some of you might be thinking “Why didn’t I think of that???”
5. This next tricky question is another example of the answer being simple and fairly obvious but only once you KNOW the answer. Really think logically about this one and you are sure to get it fairly quickly. What flies without wings and cries without eyes? Is it a bug? A plant? Keep thinking…alright here’s the answer. 7. Okay, take a look at this photo. Here are six cups in front of you. Three out of the six are filled up. By touching just one glass, how can you make all of them alternate between full and empty? The image is meant to help you, or just make things even more confusing…either/or. But the answer isn’t as difficult as you may think. Ready for the answer? 8. Since the holidays just recently passed, why not ask a tricky question around that. Every year around New Year’s Eve, Iceland manages to set a record of selling out this particular product. What product would this be? If you don’t know the answer, you should definitely take a guess. Think about what would be popular in Iceland…or what people would need there. Alright, ready for the answer? Fireworks. Apparently, according to Icelandic law, everyone can get themselves fireworks during the holiday season…specifically New Year’s Eve.
9. A ten-foot rope ladder hangs over the side of a boat, the bottom rug is on the surface of the water. The rungs are about one foot apart, and the tide goes up at the rate of six inches per hour. How long will it be until three rungs are covered? Alright, this might be one of the trickiest questions asked thus far. Take a minute and think long and hard about this. The answer is easier than you think. The correct answer is NEVER! The boat rises as the tide goes up. Tricky question, tricky question.
10. Sometimes, you are so invested in figuring out a tricky question you don’t realize that the answer is more obvious than you ever imagined. But that’s completely normal. Here’s an example of that: A man dressed in all black walks down a country lane. All of a sudden, this large black car that doesn’t have its lights on comes around the corner and screeches to a complete stop. How on earth did the car know he was there?….well guys, it was DAYTIME!
11. A truck driver is going down a one-way street the wrong way, and passes at least ten cops. Why is he not caught? This is considered a tricky question but common sense is definitely involved. Again, just as with the other tricky questions, once you have the answer, you’ll be shocked that you didn’t get it beforehand! The answer is that the man wasn’t even driving! He was walking on the sidewalk. Yepp, obvious yet not so obvious.
12. Alright, back to some tricky questions on random facts! These aren’t always easy to guess, but when you do guess them correctly, it’s pretty satisfying. This river in Oregon, United States, was in the Guinness World Records as being the world’s shortest river at 440 feet (130m). The name of the river starts with the letter “D” and is considered the shortest river name as well. Do you know what it’s named? I’ll give you a guess..the answer is easier than you think. If you guessed “River D”…you are CORRECT!
13. According to Astronauts, when you are looking from outer space, riverbeds look very similar to the circulatory system of a living organism. Coincidently, during World War II doctors would use a certain water instead of blood plasma. What kind of water was this? This might be a tricky question, but if you think of different well-known waters, it might be easier than you thought! The correct answer is seawater! They would use it to save lives when they ran out of medical supplies.
14. Alright, here’s a tricky math question. But, if you really think about it, it’s not so mathematical after all. You go to a doctor and he gives you three pills. The doctor tells you that you are to take one pill every half hour. How long would it take you before all the pills had been taken? Well, you take the 1st pill right away. Then half an hour later, you take the second pill and then a half hour later you take the third. So the total time spent is an hour! Pretty simple, right?
15. If you have been on a ROLL with all these tricky questions so far, try to answer this one. If a plane crashes on the border between the United States and Canada, where do they bury the survivors? Is it Canada? Is it the United States? Well, actually it’s neither! Because we typically don’t bury survivors. That question was more a case of paying attention to detail. I don’t know about you, but I totally missed that one!
16. Here’s another tricky “math” question for you! But really, it’s just common sense. If you have a bowl with six apples, and you take away four, how many do you have? At first, you might think it’s just a simple subtraction question, and you have two left. WRONG! The answer is you have four…because you took four apples right? Don’t worry, I didn’t get it right away either. That’s embarrassing!
17. You only have one match, and you decide to enter a dark room. Now, this dark room isn’t empty. It has an oil lamp, some kindling wood, and a newspaper. Which would you light first? For me, it was a choice between the oil lamp and kindling wood. Think long and hard about this one, and when you figure it out, you’ll regret that you were thinking long and hard about it! The answer is the match. Duh!
18. Again, what makes these particular questions so tricky is that they are so obvious and it just completely flies past your head! If Mr. Jones’ bungalow is decorated completely in pink, the walls, the carpet, and the furniture are all shades of pink, what color are the stairs? Logically it would be pink too right? I mean, how obvious is that answer? Well, that’s the wrong answer! There are no stairs at all actually. It’s a bungalow remember?
19. If you are all about planet earth and space, then this question might not be tricky for you at all. But if you aren’t, then it’s fine to just take a guess and see how far off you truly were. Every day our planet gets heavier and heavier. Actually, it gains up to 60 tons of what exactly? Just think about it. Use your noodles! If you guessed cosmic dust then that was a very lucky guess! If you didn’t, I don’t blame you at all.
20. Tricky questions and fun facts mixed in one is never a bad thing. Some sub-Saharan African tribes would attach small pouches full of insect to their legs while they went hunting at night. Why on earth did they do such a thing? Take a wild guess! The answer is it was done in order to light the way. A lot of them would put fireflies into those tiny bags, so they totally knew where exactly they were off to at night!
21. A boy is kicking his soccer ball. He kicks it about ten feet. He then has the ball come back to him on its own every single time. How on earth does he manage to do this? Tricky riddle question, but isn’t that tricky at all! The answer is that the boys are actually kicking the ball ten feet up into the air, and with the magic of gravity, the ball comes right back down.
22. Here’s another fun one for you to try out! What breaks and never falls and what falls and never breaks? Take a wild guess. The answer, as usual, is more obvious than you think. Alright, give up? The answer is that day always breaks and night always falls. Yepp, it’s true, the answer wasn’t as easy as you thought it would be.
23. Some months have 31 days, while others have 30 days. But how many months have 28 days? Err, is this a trick question? Omg, this is so embarrassing, which months have 28 days?!? Are you all going through every single month now? Guys, relax. It’s pretty simple. The answer is that ALL months have 28 days! That was definitely a tricky question.
24. In 1945 a law was made in Muzo, Colombia, that every chicken that was killed HAD to be subjected to examination by a public official. What was up with this strange law? Think about it. They needed to inspect every single dead chicken. Were they digging for gold? Well, almost. The answer is that they would remove any emeralds that were found in the gizzard.
