Four-year-old Miley Brochu has some difficulties walking on her own. But thanks to this amazing invention courtesy of high school student, Willem Hillier, Miley will get to enjoy a more comfortable way of getting around.
The little girl has been presented with a powered mobility scooter that makes movement easier and more fun. This device was created by a team of high school inventors led by Willem. It was built from a Power Wheels toy.
In an interview, Willem said about the invention. “She (Miley) can’t really walk, and so this is going to be her first opportunity to be able to move herself.”
It took three months to recreate the Power Wheels into a motorised movement tool. Willem and her team achieved this by adding a better battery, using a 3D Pinter, and rewriting a code for the joystick which would help Miley control the direction of this mini-vehicle.
Miley was adopted by Phill and Lynn Brochu after surviving Shaken Baby Syndrome. This awesome invention will give the little girl a chance to practice getting around by herself while she waits for the arrival of her powered wheelchair.
These teenagers are certainly impressive and we just can’t wait to see what the brilliant minds come up with next.
