The Carrol family of 6 had the nightmare year in 2015. Their four-year-old son Olie was diagnosed with the terminal disease — a rare genetic disorder called Battens. When the first shock went away, the family experienced the new strike. The only daughter of the Carrols, Amelia, who was only 2, also had this disorder. It took some time to face the truth. Luckily the elder children, aged 8 and 7, were healthy.

The long battle against the Battens began. It’s hard to imagine what the parents went through. However, being powerful fighters in life, they decided not to give up until the end. In October 2016 Ollie won WellChild Award, patronized by Prince Harry. When the member of the world’s most known royal family came up to Ollie at the ceremony, the boy made an enormous effort and stood up from his wheelchair — a real miracle!

Soon enough the two siblings got access to a pioneering treatment. The overwhelmed mother wrote a letter to the prince thanking him for everything he’d done for her family. Amazingly, the grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II responded her by paying a personal visit to the family in the hospital.

He talked to parents and played with children, treating them as if they were healthy. This compassion and kindness reminded everyone of his mother — Princess Diana. It’s great to see such good people in the royal family, that experience so many troubles in the past.

We wish the family to remain strong and the kids to live as long as possible, loving their parents and enjoying this life to the possible extent.
