Back in 2014, a heartbreaking photo began circulating through a Pennsylvania town. A black bear was suffering when his entire head got stuck in a bucket. When a local couple, Dean and Samantha, learned the bear had been stuck like this for nearly two months, they knew they needed to do something, and fast.
“We decided to try to find and help the bear,” Dean wrote on YouTube. “The video is documentation of our adventure.” Banding together with a couple of strangers, Dean and Samantha went on a mission to free the bear from his torture. Just wait until you see the lengths these angels on earth go to in order to help the frightened animal. After trying to pull the bucket off to no avail, the heroic group had to resort to some serious tools, putting themselves in a very precarious situation. I know I wouldn’t have been brave enough to try to hold down a bear that felt so scared and threatened.
Needless to say, these two are absolute heroes. While some people may have turned and watched from a distance in awe and fear, this group didn’t hesitate to jump into action.
After this video went viral, Dean and Samantha established a canine rescue organization to continue saving the lives of animals in need. How awesome is that?
