A couple who waited nine years to open a special package has learnt a valuable lesson.
Kathy and Brandon Gunn received a wedding present that they never opened for nearly a decade. They soon realised that the gift symbolises so much more than the giver intended.
On their wedding day, Kathy’s great-aunt, Alison have the newlyweds a gift with the instruction, “Do not open until your 1st disagreement.”
On a Facebook post submitted to Love What Matters by Kathy, she explained why they chose to leave the box the way it was for 9 years.
There was another note and some cash for Brandon too: “Brandon, Go get flowers and a bottle of wine.”
Kathy described something she realised about the box that changed the way she saw the gift and her marriage. “I realised that the tools for creating and maintaining a strong, healthy marriage were never within that box – they were within us.”
