Ishbel Orr recently purchased an Osprey wallet purse from TK Maxx (the UK’s TJ Maxx) as a Christmas gift for her daughter, Hollie.
The back of the purse was fixed into a gift box, so she didn’t get to look at all the compartments before taking it home.
Ishbel’s daughter was delighted to open her new gift on Christmas Day, but when she looked inside the purse, she shouted, “Oh my God — look at this!”
The family gathered around as a very curious collection of contents fell onto the floor.
One of the wallet’s compartments was filled with old newspaper clippings, photos of a mysterious older man, two photos of the same younger woman — and several obituaries!
Who was this woman? The man? Why were there so many obituaries? So many questions!
Ishbel realized the wallet, which she originally thought was brand new, must have been purchased once before and returned to TK Maxx. This meant someone out there was missing these seemingly important items.
Instead of brushing off the discovery, Ishbel was determined to solve the mystery behind these obituaries and return the contents to their original owner.
Little did she know, the original owner of said wallet was grieving someone very special on the same day Ishbel happened to find her…
