In 1964 a ranch owner drilled a well in other to get some water to use on his farm.
But as he drilled all the way down to where the water stopped, he was forced to stop. He discovered that the water was about 200 degrees. It was way too hot.
This then built up to an unbelievable pile that only kept on growing.
The water was then constantly released and would often reach 5 feet (1.5 m) in the air. This phenomenon is referred to as the Fly Geyser.
The geyser contained several terraces discharging water into 30 to 40 pools over an area of 74 acres. The brilliant colours were as a result of the thermophilic algae.
The water later formed its own ecosystem below the geyser. Look closely and you will notice small fishes and several kinds of birds, enjoying their cool habitat.
The minerals that escaped reacted with the oxygen in the air and the sun to create this gorgeously reflected colours.
The Fly Geyser is still active till today.
Several people have expressed interest in buying the land so tourists can visit but the owners have refused. The property remains private and is secured and surrounded by fences.
Such a spectacular vision, isn’t it?
