A couple who recently passed away did so almost at the same time while holding each other’s hand.

Isaac and Teres Vatkin have been together for nearly seven decades. According to their son, Daniel, they held hands a lot during their 69 years of marriage and it seemed fitting that that was how they would leave the world.

The couple passed away hand-in-hand at a hospital on April 23.

Daniel said:

“Through the sadness of it all, I’m so glad they left together. Their hands remained held until mum passed and she was taken away.”

89-year-old Theresa was the first to go. She passed at 12:10 am while holding her husband’s hands. Isaac passed not long after, 40 minutes to be exact.

Despite the pain of losing them. Daniel believed it was best the way it happened. According to him, his father would not have been able to handle it if he had survived.

“They maintained a unity until the last breath,” he said.

He also explained that their marriage was beautiful and they were the perfect role models for their children.

“My mum was his queen. They stuck together through thick and thin and they taught us what it means to be a loving [spouse] and how to love and say forget and forgive and move on.”
Isaac was admitted to the hospital for influenza while his wife, who had Alzheimer’s was brought in for pneumonia. They were both placed in hospice care and the hospital allowed them to share a room.
