Every kid has a superhero or notable idol that he or she looks up to. For one 3-year-old from Sherman, Texas, the coolest guy in town was his garbage man.

Tatum Jaye made a weekly routine out of standing outside each Wednesday. This was his opportunity to say hello to one of the people he admired the most, as well as to see his favorite kind of vehicle. The little boy always made sure to greet the driver with a bright smile and an eager attitude towards his weekly trash pickup.

In the video below, posted on February 23, 2017, Tatum exclaims, “I love garbage trucks!”

Mike Easley, Tatum’s neighborhood garbage man, explains, “He comes out every week, and I usually honk the horn and everything.”

The curious kid’s father, Spencer Jaye, says, “He just sits there and waves, waves him down, points at the trash can.”

Tatum and his favorite garbage truck driver have met a few times, but what Mike offers his little buddy on this particular Wednesday really takes the cake.

Realizing that Tatum is obsessed with everything garbage truck related, the dedicated driver decides to give his new friend an extra special surprise during his latest visit.

Mike hops out of his garbage truck to greet little Tatum and his parents. He shakes their hands, and they end up chatting a little. Then, he guides Tatum back to his truck for an experience this 3-year-old doesn’t see coming.
