Mikayla Holmgren, a 22 year old college student had absolutely zero expectation when she applied for her second Miss Minnesota beauty pageant. She wore a swim suit and a gown and the story about her would not raise any attention if it weren’t for one fact. Mikayla has Down Syndrome.
In a Skype interview her mom said that it was a huge step not only for Mikayla personally, but for the inclusion of people with Down Syndrome in all aspects of life. For her effort and a great presentation, the beauty queen was given the Spirit Winner title and we think it’s well deserved. Congratulations Mikayla.
