Every year, thousands of entries vie for the privilege of being crowned the winner of the Comedy Wildlife Awards. And this year, a delighted dormouse was the victor. Along with this tiny rodent was a photo of some playful bears and a surprised seal. Other runners-up also had hilarious images to share. The competition compiled over 3,500 entries. The award hopes to promote the conservation of animals through comedy.
The winner last night was judged by comic Hugh Dennis and famed TV presenter Kate Humble. Other judges weighed in on the hilarious animal photos as well.

The dormouse picture was captured up in the Italian mountains. The rodent, which appears to have a gigantic grin on its face, is climbing on a yarrow flower.

The dormouse was the winner of the Creatures of the Land category. Andrea Zampatti, 32, photographed the animal. She is from Monticelli, Italy. And he saw the delightful mouse while out hiking on Mount Guglielmo.

He said, “I was walking along the track, and I began to hear a sharp and strange ‘call’ coming from the edge of the forest. After a few minutes of searching, with amazement and happiness, I found this tiny dormouse.”

Entries came in for the comedy awards from more than 86 countries.

The photographer caught the pair of bears going at it on a moonlit night in the middle of Romania. They looked stunned that someone is watching them in the act.
Viewers like you have shared a lot of remarks about these stunning images. And they’re getting people laughing all in support of nature conservation. The following were a few comments shared on Mail Online:

“These photos are completely wonderful. Always prefer to read about the animals than being depressed by our vile politicians at the moment.”

“The happy mouse has been around for several years, the fox on the golf course, the – well could go on, this award must be new, and photographers have gone through their old stock. Very good they are, certainly, put a smile on the face.”

“I would just love to see all these amazing photographs in a lovely book or made into a calendar. I don’t have a favorite one became they are all absolutely lovely, and I just love them all. Thank you for sharing these fantastic photographs with us they are stunning.”
“Must have been hard to choose just one, although the overall winner (if I read this right) deserves it. Also, love the shocked seal.”

“Was the person that wrote this highly commended for the amount of times that they got the words “highly commended” in an article because if not, I personally think that they should be highly commended for having it under almost every photo.”

Some people remember seeing a photo similar to the dormouse one on Facebook a few years ago. It is unclear if this is the same image or a new one.

Which of these animal photos did you like the most? Are you a fan of the mouse or the bears or another one entirely?
