Window blinds are an elegant and practical interior detail, often used in living areas to prevent direct sunlight. Unlike curtains, they are quite adjusted, meaning that they can regulate the brightness of the lighting. They are easy to use and do not require much care. Moreover, cleaning the blinds does not take a lot of time and effort if you follow a few simple tips.
Choosing the cleaning way
The way of washing, first of all, depends on the material that your blinds are made of.
It is important to read the instructions of the product carefully and follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Washing the window blinds
Dry cleaning
For the dry cleaning, it is possible to use the microfiber duster or special brush.
Firstly, you should turn back the blinds until they are completely closed. Then each blade should be cleaned with the help of the duster.
Vacuum cleaning
In order to start the cleaning process, it is necessary to close the blinds completely.
Then, each blade is cleaned separately with the help of a special cap, designed for the furniture. After the vacuum cleaning is done, take a wet microfiber dust and wipe all blades from both sides.
Washing
This procedure is the most sophisticated one and is recommended to be carried out in the bathroom. Carefully remove the blinds while they are in the open position.
Rinse them with a strong pressure of warm water from the shower. After moistening a soft sponge in soapy water, wipe the blades from both sides.
Then rinse the blinds with warm water one more time.
Careful treating
There is nothing difficult about cleaning your window blinds. However, you should pay enough attention to the process as some parts are really fragile and can be easily broken if treated not in a proper way.
