When Candy and Pennie took a special birthday trip to New York City, they had no idea that their lives were going to change forever! The adorable middle-aged twins were excited to tour the city and experience all it had to offer — and one of the biggest to-dos on their list was check out a Today Show taping!
The twins showed up hours in advance to get a position right along the Today Show gate in Rockefeller Center. They were ready to get on camera and receive a birthday shoutout, but the film crew had another idea in mind…
The stylists on the the Today Show segment «Ambush Makeover» targeted Pennie and Candy and brought them behind the scenes to get the makeover a lifetime! They wanted to transform the sisters’ frumpy style to a modern look at no charge!
Without hesitation, the sisters agreed and were whisked away to get new looks that would help define their individual identities.
Before Candy and Pennie were brought back to the stylists’ rooms and separated, they spoke about how similar they had been their entire lives. From dressing in the same outfits as children, to showing up in public places wearing the exact same clothes without trying as adults, it was hard for them to develop their own looks!
That’s why the Today Show staff was determined to give each of the women their own style and flare! Little did they know how different they would really look after the makeover was complete…
First, Candy was brought out onto the set to show off her modern new look! With a fresh haircut and a gorgeous knee-length dress, Candy stepped in front of the camera with all of the confidence in the world. Now it was time to see how Pennie’s makeover turned out.
They made Candy turn away from the entrance so her sister’s big reveal would be a surprise to her as well! Would she look the same or did the stylists really do their best to give each of the women their own flare?
The moment Pennie came around the corner and Candie turned around, they both broke out in huge smiles! They couldn’t believe how great each other looked and how different their styles were. This was exactly what they were hoping for!
Not only did the women receive a fabulous makeover, but the celebrity hairstylist also gave each of them a bag full of treatments to keep their tresses looking fresh!
