Keith Urban set up a camera and filmed himself performing an acoustic version of his latest hit, “Female,” live from his house. He’s also sharing some of his fans’ stories about the heroic females in their lives.

Keith Urban’s latest hit, “Female,” continues to resonate with fans months after he debuted the song on the CMA Awards last November. He just released a solo acoustic performance of the women’s empowerment anthem shot live at his house, and it’s only reigniting the fans’ passion for the song.

In fact, some fans prefer hearing Keith backed up by nothing but his guitar. Becky Geisler commented on Instagram, “Very nice breakdown version of this song. Love to listen to your stripped down version of any song. #godgiventalent.” Instagram user @lemoneelyme wrote, “My favorite! Love the passion!”

With Keith’s encouragement, other fans have been sharing stories about the females in their lives who inspire them to persevere against hardship. Twitter use @jmbel said “Female” reminds her of her daughter, who they call Moose. The mother writes, “She inspires me every day with her hard work, perseverance and her ability to always see the best in everyone. #FavoriteFemale.”

Another fan on Twitter named Lucy said Louise Johnson is her #favoritefemale. Lucy describes Louise as a “breast cancer survivor, now breast cancer research fundraiser, #fighter, lover of life, best friend and my person.”

These are just a sample of the reactions Keith has gotten to “Female.” Other women have told him the song has really compelled them to find their voice and speak up.

Keith says, “I’ve actually gotten some feedback from several people who have shared their own struggles, and keeping things that have happened to them to themselves, and the song being able to give them a feeling of connectedness to something.”

It’s gratifying for Keith to hear these stories of the positive impact “Female” is having on his listeners, but he didn’t record the song because he thought it would change lives.

Keith explains, “At the end of the day, you never know what a song is going to do and who it’s going to affect, but all I know is for me, personally, when I heard the song the day after it was written, it really moved me very strongly. My wife was listening at the same time, and she had the same feeling about the song. I just said ‘I feel very strongly I want to record this song.’”

As we’ve reported, Keith actually got his wife, Oscar winner Nicole Kidman, to add background vocals to “Female.” It’s fitting since Keith was thinking of Nicole and their two daughters, Sunny and Faith, when he chose to sing the song.

He adds, “As a father of two daughters — [ages] six and nine — as a husband, as a son, it just resonated with me as just a beautiful, poignant prayer in a lot of ways too; a divinely timed piece that really needed to be put into the world.”

“Female” is the lead single from Keith’s upcoming album, “Graffiti U,” due out in the coming months.
