Actress Mariska Hargitay and her former ‘Law And Order: SVU’ co-star recently shared a picture of their sweet reunion on their respective Instagram platforms, and their fans are absolutely loving it.

The American actress is best known for her role as Detective/Sergeant/Lieutenant Olivia Benson on the ‘Law And Order: SVU’ TV series. She has been on the show right from the first season, which began to air in 1999. The show, now in its 19th season, has managed to maintain the interest of fans over the years.
For her role in the series, Hargitay has earned multiple awards and nominations.
Throughout the 1980s and the 1990s, Hargitay featured in a number of film and television shows before scoring her biggest gig by being cast as Olivia Benson.
Christopher Meloni
The actor was also part of the original ‘Law And Order: SVU’ series. He starred as the NYPD Detective Elliot Stabler on the show. However, he left the project after its 12th season. He was also notable for his role as vampire Roman on the main cast of ‘True Blood’ for the series’ fifth season.
Hargitay and Meloni on ‘Law And Order: SVU’
Casting for the NBC police procedural drama began in 1999. Hargitay made it to the final round of auditions along with Samantha Mathis and Reiko Aylesworth. For the role of Detective Stabler, Meloni was being considered right along with Tim Matheson and John Slattery.
When Hargitay and Meloni read their lines together, the chemistry between them was so clear and captivating that as soon as they left, there was a moment of silence among the producers. Dick Wolf, one of the guys in charge, was reported to have said:
Oh well. There’s no doubt who we should choose – Hargitay and Meloni.
It soon became evident that they made the right choice because, for years, fans fell in love with their chemistry. Even though their storyline did not develop into anything more romantic, the duo still kept us glued to our TV and we were just in love with their friendship and witty banter. However, after season 12, Meloni moved on to other things, and since then, we desperately missed seeing the both of them together.
Sweet reunion
Recently, the actors gave the SVU fans a truly special Christmas gift when they both reunited, albeit for an Instagram photo. Hargitay posted a selfie with Meloni, which she captioned, “ran into this #HAPPY man.”
Meloni posted a similar but clearer picture on his own IG and captioned it ”#Friends #Seehappy #jingleHells.”
Christopher Meloni seems to be promoting his new show, Happy, which follows the story of a degenerate ex-cop whose life is forever changed by a relentlessly positive imaginary friend.
It does seem like an actual reunion between this duo on SVU is not likely, but this picture certainly brings back memories and puts a smile on our faces.
