When Castiel was found by residents of Los Angeles, no one expected he was more than just an ordinary stray dog. He even had a sort of collar, which means he used to have owners who treated him like a pet. However, their care wasn’t that good, as the poor thing was very underweight and, as it turned out later, infested with parasites. His rescuers took him to the nearest shelter not expecting any surprise.
Local shelter staff soon discovered the animal was about a year old and actually proved to be a wolf-dog hybrid. That wasn’t great news for Castiel, as it became clear he couldn’t stay in the shelter with ordinary dogs and had to be transferred into a special facility.
The whole idea turned to be hard to put in practice, as the dog was so scared and refused to leave the corner of the infirmary.
Fortunately, rescuers managed to bathe and treat him.
Eventually, Castiel started making improvements. He gained some weight and had his fur back, plus, parasites no longer bothered him.
After he restored his original look, it was time to go to the proper facility.
His hard life turned Castiel into a loner, and at first he didn’t know how to form connections with other sanctuary inhabitants. But the most important, he was to learn to establish a bond with a local wolf pack.
Anyway, he enjoyed the outdoors, and soon started showing interest in the other animals.
The staff decided that he needed a little love to adapt faster. They organized kind of a date for him, introducing several female wolves.
One of them, 3-year-old Tenali, was very energetic and eager for communication. It took both of them a couple of days to start playing and spending more and more time together.
His new girlfriend managed to open Castiel’s heart and relieve his traumatic past memories. Now, their bond is getting stronger and stronger every day, which definitely adds to Castiel’s recovery. Both animals look extremely happy and are probably making some plans for the future.
