Man Orders 200 Hash Browns After McDonald’s Refused Him Chicken Nuggets For Breakfast

Ina 2012 report, it was revealed that McDonald’s restaurants feed 1% of the Earth’s population every day. That’s an astonishing 68 million people who walk through the “Golden Arches” and feast of the fast food giant’s mouthwatering menu.

But usually, McDonald’s customers can be split into two groups; those who can’t understand why McDonald’s even bother serving a breakfast menu, and those who would love to see the breakfast items available ALL DAY.

I actually used to work at a McDonald’s when I was 15, and I still cannot get enough of their breakfast menu. So when it comes to the McMuffin vs The Big Mac, I’m always going to be backing the Sausage & Egg. (Little known fact about me: I was actually so fast at cooking the perfectly round eggs for McMuffins, I earned the nickname “Egg Man”. All true.)

However, during my time working for the fast food giant, I encountered many customers who came in before 10:30 am, only to lash out when they were told they couldn’t order a Quarter Pounder with cheese for another nine minutes!

Seriously, one guy through a small paper cup of ketchup at me.

However, this disgruntled customer in Sydney, Australia took his vengeance to a whole new level.

After pulling into the drive-thru at 4:50 am, the fast-food fanatic became irate after he was told by staff that they would not be able to serve him his desired Chicken McNuggets as the restaurant was not serving items from the main menu.

After receiving the understandably heartbreaking news (who doesn’t love to dunk a nugget?), the customer reacted in perhaps the most unjust manner in McDonald’s history. In a bizarre display of behavior, the man then ordered a gut-busting 200 hash browns from the breakfast menu and proceeded to drive four laps of the drive-thru the Sydney branch.

After the staff became increasingly concerned by the gentleman’s behavior and worrying for their safety, they were forced to call the police.

When the cops arrived, the man was waiting outside the restaurant for his hash browns.

Shortly after, the 30-year-old from Epping, New South Wales was breathalyzed and found to be three times over the drink-drive limit. The Australian Daily Telegraph reported that the customer has since had his license suspended and is due to appear at Hornsby Court on November 30.

Now, it may sound like an uncomfortable ordeal and major inconvenience, but if that happened on one of my early morning shifts I would have been overjoyed!

However, I can sympathize with the staff on one point; having to repeatedly tell customers that main menu items are not available before 10:30 am!

The incident has once again forced McDonald’s to issue an explanation on their website as to why certain items cannot be purchased during certain hours. It says:

“We only have the capacity to cook one set of products at a time.

Breakfast and main menu items cook at different temperatures and we need the same set of equipment to cook sausage and eggs and beef patties.

We also would not cook beef and pork on the same grill at the same time. There is limited space in the kitchen and we have the maximum amount of grills at the moment in all our restaurants.”

Now, that customer may sound like a nuisance, but trust me, Mcdonald’s staff have to put up with a lot worse. Check out this guy who just wouldn’t stop throwing chairs through their windows:
