Dogs are faithful companions and are great friends. They saved life of people so many times! Besides, they always prick up ears to protect us and not to let anyone make us harm.
One of such heroic dogs is this Labrador who is now 4 years old. His name is Jedi, and it really fits him. One night Jedi saved life of the 7-years old child Luke Nuttall.
When everyone in the house was sleeping, Jedi suddenly woke up Dorrie, Luke’s mother, and led her to the child’s room. He saved the child from the accident. Luke has type 1 diabetes, and due to this he suffers from changes of ABP and changes of BSL. That night the child’s blood pressure was too low and it was reaching the critical level. But luckily he had Jedi.
Luke’s blood sugar level is constantly tracked with the help of the special device, but sometimes also with the help of Jedi. The dog was schooled when he was small to define be smell chemical changes in the child’s sweat. The dog also knows that if something bad happens, he needs to bring something colourful to Dorrie. Besides, if the BSL is too high, the dog should raise the paw, and if it is too low — to lay down on the floor.
3 years passed since the day when Jedi saved Luke’s life. Their very special friendship spreads not only between them but also among the whole family. Each year the family has a holiday when Jedi becomes the centre of everyone’s attention and love that he receives from everyone.
Dorrie worked hard on delivering information about medical attendance after those who are ill with diabetes. She constantly supports institutions that work at researching this disease. Jedi and Luke became the wonderful example of how to survive diabetes together.
