For years, kids have been trying to find way to avoid eating the green vegetables that are put on their dinner plates. Back in the day, kids would go so far as to stuff the greens in their socks while their parents weren’t looking. Broccoli is amongst one of the veggies that kids dislike the most. But, can you blame them? Whether served raw or cooked, the tree-like vegetable is lacking a lot of flavor. And the texture certainly isn’t one of the favorites, as it has a tendency to break apart and stick between your teeth. If you want it to actually taste somewhat decent, it needs to be doused in butter, but that kind of defeats the purpose of eating it for it’s many healthy perks.
Well, evidently it’s not just kids who despise broccoli…there is one feisty parrot who is leading the “anti-veggie” parade.
His name is Eric and he is a beauty. His stage name is “Eric the Legend.” He’s a white parrot who is known for his fun-loving personality and respectful nature. Eric is well-behaved 99.9% of the time, until you try to feed him the dreaded green vegetable. Since Eric has been placed on a special diet, his vet has set strict food guidelines that involves a daily intake of broccoli.
In the video below, you can witness just how much Eric despises the veggie. After his human mommy places it in his bowl he pushes it around the table in a rage. “I want you to show all the kids how you eat your broccoli,” his mom says. Evidently, those words make Eric more angry, as he plucks a piece of broccoli out of the bowl and tosses it off the side of the table. He showed her! He then goes on to pace back and forth on the table in a fit of anger. He doesn’t just dislike the vegetable…he hates it!
His owner made three failed attempts at getting Eric to eat his broccoli. At one point it looks as if he is going to eat it, but instead he is simply breaking the veggies apart and then tossing them onto the table. And he doesn’t hold back from squealing and expressing himself through the entire process. It even sounds like he says, “Gimme a treat!”
Based on this video, it’s hard to believe that Eric has convinced any child that broccoli is a delicious veggie to eat. He is simply NOT convinced and never will be!

Apparently, Eric isn’t the only bird out there who hates his veggies…
“Years ago I had a Bare Eyed Cockatoo named Zooey who loathed with a passion, brussel sprouts. She’d even grab them off my plate and toss them onto the floor! On the other hand, she adored hot chili peppers and pasta with marninara sauce….. White bird + tomato based sauce = one very happy, but messy bird.”
