Hello there. I know it has been very quiet around here the last couple of months, but I have been working on a variety of holiday crafts that I am excited to share with you.
First up are these pine cone Christmas trees. I already had almost all of the supplies for these trees on hand, but I purchased the pots at a dollar store. The pine cones were scavenged last winter.
The pine cones had been in my garage for over a year, but I wanted to make sure that they were not harboring any critters so I carefully washed the pine cones in soapy water. The pine cones closed when I washed them, but after drying on newspapers for about a day they opened again.
I painted the pots. I then painted the tip of each scale on the pine cones.
When the paint was dry I put a thin line of glue on the edge of the scales near the top of my mini tree and sprinkled glitter on the glue to make it look like the mini trees had been dusted by frost. When the glue dried I set a pine cone in each painted pot and topped each pine cone with a star made out of a craft foil.
To make the pine cone trees, I used the following:
- Clean pine cones
- Craft paint
- Brush
- Craft glue
- Glitter
- Small terracotta pots
- Aluminum stars
Enjoy!
