Someone reported hearing shouting and crying in the Appio area, Rome.
Four officers arrived at the scene, but what they saw — broke their hearts. There were no burglars or any crime committed. The officers found 94-year-old Michele and his 84-year-old wife, Jole.
Jole and Michelle were crying because they were suffering from an ‘incurable loneliness’ and because there is so much hate today in the news. They have been husband and wife for almost 70 years and it’s been ages since someone visited them.
While waiting for the ambulance to check in on the elderly couple, one officer went to the kitchen and prepared a plate of pasta for Jole and Michelle.
That evening the officers spent time socializing with Jole and Michelle. That day they didn’t feel that suffocating loneliness.
