Sadly, it has been almost a year since the great Alan Rickman passed away. The splendid British actor left behind a plethora of memorable roles. His movies have become true classics and his characters have since been deeply embossed in every movie lover’s memory.

The giant of British film and theatre
Alan Rickman is equally known and appreciated for his roles on the stage as he is on the big screen. Not only did Rickman train at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, but he was also a member of the Royal Shakespeare Company. For his role as Vicomte de Valmont in the stage production of Les Liaisons Dangereuses, he was even nominated for a Tony Award in 1985.

His worldwide breakthrough came with Die Hard and his fame with Harry Potter. However, one of his greatest on-screen recognitions came in 1991. It was the year Rickman won a BAFTA Award for Best Actor in a Supporting Role for the film Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves. Rickman, without a doubt, remains one of the greatest artists in British history.

The most memorable characters
