It has been almost three years since Robin Williams committed suicide in 2014. As fans everywhere mourned his death and treated depression as the cause of his death, his wife has come forth and revealed the true answer.
In the first ever interview after the death of her husband, Susan Schneider Williams has decided to reveal what really killed the famous actor.
In the heartbreaking video, Susan recounts the last three words that her husband said to her.
It was on a television interview where Susan revealed that Robin Williams had been struggling with a debilitating brain disease for years before his sudden death in August of 2014.
She said: ‘it was not depression that killed Robin. It was actually Lewy Body Dementia. Depression was one of let’s call it 50 symptoms and it was a small one.’
She went on to say that the doctor had given Robin three years to live and that they would have been a tough three years.
‘If Robin was lucky, he would’ve had maybe three years left. And they would’ve been hard years. And it’s a good chance he would have been locked up.’ Susan went on to say that Robin had been paranoid and anxious before his death. About a week before he took his own life, he was hoping to check himself into a facility which monitors one’s neurocognitive abilities.
As tears rolled down Susan’s face, she recounts the last conversation that the couple had. She said that she was in bed reading when she saw Robin out of the corner of her eye. He approached her and asked if she wanted a foot massage.
‘And I said, ‘It’s OK, honey. Not…you know, it’s OK. You don’t have to tonight.’ And I’ll never forget the look in his eyes of just, sad because he wanted to. And I wished…you know?’
As she continued to tell her story through her tears, she said: ‘then he came back in the room a couple of times. Once to his closet. And he said…and then he laughed. And he said, ‘Goodnight, my love.’ And I said, ‘Goodnight, my love.’’
Susan went on to say that their marriage had been a ‘dream.’ ‘It’s the best love I ever dreamed of. You know, it’s what I always dreamed a love would be, as just really based on, just honor, love, respect.’
