In recent years, eyebrows have become our number one priority in terms of makeup goals. With the help of Instagram, they’ve even surpassed liquid eyeliner as the most difficult )and therefore most praised) feature of makeup.
And with so much attention on these face-shapers, is it any wonder that people are experimenting with them?
Introducing the «negative space eyebrow» trend.
Take everything you know about eyebrows and toss it out the window. Or maybe just take everything you know about eyebrows and invert it.
You could even call them «anti-brows.»
You can create negative space eyebrows by first covering up your real brows with concealer. Then, simply outline a brow shape of your choosing with liner and/or eyeshadow.
People are even adding their own flair to the trend.
Like most makeup trends, there’s always more than one way to do it. Accenting the area around your hidden brows makes their non-existence even more apparent.
This isn’t the first time people have chosen to cover their eyebrows.
Drag queens have been covering their brows for some time now. However, most of them do so to make room for more theatrical eyebrows.

Actually, beauty fanatics have been playing with the negative space technique in several areas of makeup, and as it turns out, the approach can be applied to a number of features.

As an industry, makeup is peaking. There are so many different tools available to create literally any look you could imagine — including negative space lips like these!
This technique is about more than just inverting space.
Clearly, the negative space trend isn’t as simple as one might think. There are a ton of different ways a makeup artist can approach the idea of negative space.
Still, negative space eyebrows are probably the most shocking.
We may be obsessed with eyebrows, but we don’t experiment with them on a daily basis as much as we do with other makeup.
That’s why this eyebrow trend stands out.
But is this a real-life trend, or just people having fun on Instagram?
Probably the latter. It’s hard to imagine people rocking these as an everyday look.
We can probably file this one under the same tab as feather brows.
Overall, the negative space trend is pretty mesmerizing.
Whether or not these brows make it into everyday makeup, they’re amazing to stare at on Instagram.
