There is a big push for people to be as active as possible. Typically, we view lazy people as a problem.
A recent study from Florida Atlantic University sought to shed light on why some people seemed incredibly lazy while others seemed to go-getters.
From those results, the participants were separated into «thinking» and «non-thinkin» groups. Their activity was then monitored. What they found was that the «thinkers» tended to be much less active than their «non-thinking» counterparts.
Smarter people seem to be lazy because their content to sit around and think. They have a rich inner-monologue which makes them more prone to reflecting and less prone to getting bored.
Because they don’t have this inner-monologue, they get bored easily. They need things to keep them occupied.
Being less active is associated with a variety of health problems, so people do need to be aware of their levels of inactivity. Otherwise, they will be prone to obesity and the health issues associated with it.
But don’t wallow in your laziness. Make sure you are being active for at least a portion of the day to ensure you stay healthy.
