She Wears Makeup Every Day, But Boyfriend Dumps Her When He Sees Her Without It

Sophia Ridlington of the United Kingdom decided to show the heartbreaking truth of her skin condition. Diagnosed with psoriasis, her skin became covered with red, scaly bumps all over her body, including her face.

The skin would crack, causing excruciating pain. Moreover, Sophia became self-conscious about her appearance. Now, she has learned how to embrace her body.

“My skin often cracks and bleeds, which causes me so much pain,” she said. “Now I’ve learned how to cover my face properly. I love doing my makeup and it gives me something to focus on.”

Sophia admits that with her makeup on, no one can see that anything is wrong. She wants others to know that what you see isn’t always the truth. After her boyfriend saw what her skin really looked like, he didn’t bother to stick around.

“My ex-boyfriend didn’t stick by me and it broke my heart at the time; he didn’t appreciate me for who I was,” she said. “I used to wear long sleeves or long trousers every single time I left the house. It’s very difficult to have people staring at you as if you’re different to them.”

Since then, Sophia has studied cosmetology to become a professional makeup artist. Today, she is much more confident in her skin than she was as a teenager. She is sharing images of her natural face to inspire others to embrace their so-called imperfections.

“I hope to encourage people in a similar position to be comfortable with their psoriasis,” she said. “I’ve already received so much support on social media and people in a similar position always ask me how I cope through it.”
