It’s a universal truth that most of us hated math class when we were young. When our grades got worse, we had to yell with our parents ‘It’s so hard!’, ‘I don’t understand it!’, ‘I don’t know anything!’
The irony is that when we become adults, we start to like it more in one way or another and we spend our free time solving sudoku or brain teasers that appear in newspapers or magazines.
Here, we’ll show you an equation, so you can put to the test some of your math skills that may be a little rusty.
As you can see, the equation is made up of the raccoon, fox, and rabbit. The idea is that you solve the various unknowns until you solve the whole equation. Take a few minutes, and if you can’t get the answer, don’t worry. We’ll give it to you at the end…
Solution
It’s clear that the first thing we must do is find the value of each animal in the equation. The raccoon has a value of 30, the fox is 15, and the rabbit is 4.
After figuring out these numbers, the final equation will look like this:
30 + 45 x 4 = ?
According to the order of operations (that surely you didn’t forget), first, we must solve the multiplication, which equals 60. Then, we perform the addition, and the final answer equals 90.
That wasn’t too difficult, right?
