Seeing an animal in pain is always heartbreaking, no matter if you are a fan of the animal or not. No one likes seeing a little furry friend in pain, especially if it is a little kitten crawling along the street alone at night.
This little kitten was spotted limping along a busy street, all by himself. He was weak, and had a terrible limp. He may have been weak, but his will to live was strong, as he let out a loud cry for help.
The stray kitten was found hobbling slowly across the street, when Kevi noticed him and decided to help. But as soon as he got close, the kitty ran into the bushes.
“There was no way he would have made it during the day when that street is most busy. When we found him, he let out the most heartbreaking cry, as if to say ‘please don’t hurt me, I’m injured,’ ” said Kevi.
After an hour of trying to lure the kitten out of the bushes, the kitty quickly bolted for the busy street, but Kevi was quicker and threw a coat over top of him to try and calm him down.
And that’s when he realized that the kitten was devastatingly just skin and bones, covered in fleas, and was terribly injured.
Kevi took him to Tree House Humane Society, where they determined he had a broken pelvis, and his life was changed forever.
“We named him kitten Dudley (after Dudley Do Right) because he walked like he just got off a horse,” Kevi said during an interview.
And after six weeks of being moved into a foster home, Dudley gained weight, started playing, but continued to limp and walk with only three of his legs. The poor little guy definitely had more than just a broken pelvis.
“After taking him to the vet, x-rays showed he had a broken pelvis and femoral head (on his right back leg),” commented Kevi.
The poor kitten needed an FHO, Femoral Head Ostectomy, surgery to fully heal and be pain free. And lucky enough, they were quickly Abe to raise enough money to get him the surgery he needed. After his surgery, he finished his meds, ate every meal, went to physical therapy and was doing great!
Now, Dudley is waiting for a forever home, but is in good spirits while playing and interacting with his human friends. He demands love and attention from his friends, and everyone loves him.
We are so happy that Dudley is doing so well, and we hope he continues to get better, and find a forever home! He definitely deserves it!
