The Internet Just Learned That Natalie Imbruglia’s ‘Torn’ Wasn’t An Original Song, They Can’t Handle It

bez-imeni-1

Let’s flashback to the Nineties, shall we? You’re sitting in your parent’s garage, you’re hanging out with your friends, having a few laughs, and suddenly someone turns on the RADIO. Yes, the RADIO.

A familiar sound comes out of the station, it is Torn by Natalie Imbruglia. Your friend, Vanessa, says “turn it up!” as she plays with her choker necklace. Your friends bob their heads and say what a great time it is to be alive.

Oh, how the times have changed. For the quintessential sound of the 90s has been a vicious LIE! As we have recently learned, Twitter user @VilinskiKonjic (horse the band) reminded us all of a bit of knowledge we seemed to have either forgotten or ignored. Torn by Natalie Imbruglia is, in fact, a COVER. It is NOT an original song.
This all started when User @VilinskiKonji (horse the band) made this brief but poignant tweet, noting that children of the Nineties have a coming of age moment three times in their life:

1
Then Twitter User @sarah_michellex (sarah) chimes in with a picture response, that pretty much sums up how all of us are feeling about this little revelation.

2
We all feel a great sense of confusion and disappointment. User @yamaneko (Rachel Simone) expresses her dismay.

3
Our minds have thoroughly been blown open. @VilinskiKonji informs us that the song is a Danish song, which was actually originally written by another band called Ednaswap before Natalie got her hands on it! WHAT!?

4

Twitter user @nhojelttil (little john) was not convinced so they ended up checking Wikipedia to see if it was accurate. Sure enough, they actually learned who first recorded the song!

5

We suddenly don’t know what to believe anymore. Our allegiance to Natalie Imbruglia has been shaken. User @MorganCarlston (Morgan Carlston) let us know how they feel.

6

Living in ignorance really is bliss. As we listen to the Danish version, we can’t help but feel like we’ve stepped into a different parallel universe. User @ginisimov (gina lollobrigida) puts it plainly.

7
As with all scandals, user @democracydiva (Democracy Diva) tells us this is the only thing her and her friends are talking about. We’ve been shaken too, Twitter, we’ve been shaken too…
