We all love the birds in our gardens, and many of us feed them. However, very few are lucky to develop a connection with feathery creatures.

One little girl in Seattle is the luckiest one. Gabi Mann is only eight years old, but she has cracked the code to communicating with birds.

The girl loved the crows in her garden and started feeding them every day. She would get up early in the morning, prepare food for them and watch them eating until it was time to leave to school.

Gabi‘s parents noticed her affection to the birds and made some feeders in the back yard.

It seems odd to some people that Gabi‘s favorite birds are crows. However, the little girl finds them very beautiful and smart. In fact, crows are one of the smartest, most playful and social bird species. Scientists say that they can recognize human faces and develop interactive relationships with people.

One day, when Gabi went to clean the feeders, she noticed something sparkling – that was a silver ball. The next day she spotted some beads and a polished rock in the feeder. It turns out that the crows leave her small gifts in return!

Now she has a full collection of presents from her friends.

There are some pieces of glass, earrings, paper clips, Lego pieces and other things. It is an odd assortment of objects, but to Gabi these things are more valuable than gold.

Her favorite gift is a pearl-colored heart. “It’s showing me how much they love me,” she said of the small treasure.

Gabi is a real bird-whisperer! She still feeds her beloved crows and is very thankful for every little gift they bring her.
