Mikael Kjellman from Sweden is a design engineer. He wanted a weather-proof bicycle that would be more comfortable to ride than the traditional bike, and since no one else seemed to be interested in the idea, Mikael started working on it on his own.
Now he’s presenting the prototype of the PodRide, a fun and practical bicycle-car. The PodRide has four wheels and weighs 154 pounds. It can go 15 miles per hour on different terrain (even on ice!), and it’s completely weather-protected. There is storage space inside, the windows can be opened for ventilation, and you can even hook a bike trailer to its back.
The PodRide is narrow enough to fit on bike paths, and – this is the best thing about it – no special license is needed to own and use it. Anyone can ride this bicycle-car hybrid, it doesn’t even look like bike riding skills are necessary!
Since Mikael published his video he has received numerous messages from customers interested in a PodRide of their own. Let’s hope we’ll get to see more of these awesome hybrids in the nearest future!
