Isn’t being a wildlife photographer amazing? You get to travel to loads of places and experience the beauty that is the animal kingdom.
It is actually not as easy as it sounds, though and photographers in this genre usually have to possess great technical skills and good field craft skills. It is the most difficult aspect of nature photography as some animals can be very difficult to approach and going towards a dangerous animal the wrong way might lead to injury or even fatal death.
This photographer knew very well how much of a risk this can be when he was approached by an elk he was taking a photo of. He was attempting to capture the elk from a safe distance while working in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park but the animal soon became rather hostile.
The elk reached him, determined to react violently but the photographer was obviously very smart and knew exactly what to do. Instead of panicking, which might have upset the animal even more, he kept his cool. It soon became a battle of wills between the photographer and the angry elk.
