Madeleine was born to a teenage couple who barely knew a thing about parenting and raising a child at that time and they faced extra adversity due to their young ages.
Madeleine’s mother and father faced a lot of challenges when society discovered they were going to have a baby. They were ridiculed, people looked down on them and judged them.
However, this did not break them, with the enormous support of their families, they were able to keep the pregnancy, and raise their baby girl as responsible parents.
Despite the cards being stacked against them, the family prospered and nothing shows how far they have come more than a picture she recently posted online. Madeleine shared a touching photo from her high school graduation with the Love What Matters Facebook page and explained why it meant so much to her family!
“We made it TOGETHER. My mom was 15 while pregnant with me, she had me at 16. My dad was 17. The original picture is from June 2000.”
She further explains that her parents were judged a lot during this time but stayed strong together. She reveals that her parents lived with their parents (her grand parents ) but raised her together.
They were very determined to make it in life and provide their daughter with a good future that she deserved. She also adds that her dad worked full time in construction and her mom was still playing soccer at that time.
Madeleine explains that today her parents are happily married and have such a strong bond. They purchased a beautiful home. Currently, her mom is a stay-at-home mom and her dad has a great career as a longshoreman. She adds that she has two little sisters that are following in her footsteps.
She goes on to explain in her post, “The original photo has always been an inspiration to me. I wanted to recreate this photo since the beginning of my senior year but especially after I accepted my offer to college.”
Madeleine says that she also wanted the photo to be a reflection to show her parents how far they have come together as a family. She further adds that her parents have always been her greatest source of motivation and inspiration to be successful in high school and now she strives to do well in college.
“I couldn’t ask for a more loving, supportive family than the one God gave me. Yeah, that’s right, we made it TOGETHER.” She said.
Even though most people doubted Madeleine’s parents, they encouraged their daughter all through her schooling. Now the beautiful teen is headed off to college this fall to continue her studies! Without the love and support of her parents, Madeleine’s future wouldn’t be nearly as bright!
Madeleine’s parents were her inspiration and now she’s working to be her the inspiration for her sisters! Their family dynamic is truly incredible.
