On July 27, 2017, Oleksandr Akopov became famous worldwide.
This man did something really incredible! Oleksandr works as a pilot for more than 30 years already. However, a few days ago he turned from an ordinary pilot into a hero!
Akopov flawlessly landed a plane that was caught in a disastrous weather. As soon as the aircraft reached 1,300 meters, it got caught in hail, and the hailstones started slowly damaging the plane. The cockpit windows were severely damaged — the pilots couldn’t see a thing! Nevertheless, Akopov’s professionalism was enough to save 121 passengers and 6 crew members.
“I have been flying for 30 years. Well, did you see the plane landing? Was it okay? The passengers are alive. It is normal. This is our professional reliability,” he said. “Our locator did not show this weather disaster, this is why it happened. It was hard, but the main thing is that people are alive.”
