When Chrissy Corbitt from Florida was having her fourth child, she had no idea that the birth would cause such an uproar in the delivery room.
The baby was born one week prematurely — nothing out of the ordinary and nothing to worry about. But it appeared to be a lot bigger than expected, so the doctors decided to perform a C-section for the safety of both mother and child.
The birth seemed to be going well until Chrissy suddenly heard the doctors break out in laughter. She couldn’t see what was happening, but she heard someone say, «I don’t think this baby is going to end. Are there two of them?»
When Chrissy finally held her daughter Carleigh in her arms, it was clear why — her sweet newborn was huge! She was over 22 inches long and weighed an incredible 13.5 pounds.
The proud parents had to buy clothes normally meant for nine-month-old babies. «It looked like they pulled a toddler out of my belly. She’s so big!» said Chrissy.
Mother and daughter are doing well and the family is overjoyed with the new addition. If Carleigh had been born on her due date, she probably would have weighed over 15 pounds. We’re pretty sure Chrissy is relieved that she decided to arrive a bit early!
