A woman has shared the routine she used to help clear her acne, using everyday products that you might already have in your kitchen.
Model Brianna Lopez took to Instagram to share honest before and after snaps of her face, admitting that it was ‘really hard’ to show her skin at its worst point to the world — particularly as she was trying to break into an industry with a significant focus on appearance.
‘My skin isn’t perfect. But it has come along way and I want to share the progress with everyone,’ she explained.
‘This is my skin at its worst on the lefts and now on the right. This was a hard time and I was very bothered by it. Didn’t want to leave my room or even have my own parents look at me.’
‘I still have scarring left which I am working with a doctor to fix because to be a model you basically need to be «perfect». Which no one is and I am not claiming to be perfect at all,’ she continued.
‘There are worse things that can happen to you in life than acne. But getting acne takes a really big toll on your life.’
After receiving an overwhelming response on her post, with over 10k likes and hundreds of commenters asking her to share her secret, Brianna went on to detail the products she’d used to achieve her transformation.
‘I double cleanse with jojoba oil and wipe it off with a hot wash rag,’ she detailed, alongside a series of images of the brands she buys. ‘I usually do a honey mask mixed with turmeric and cinnamon. I have two other masks that I like to use, sulfur mask and bentonit clay mask, but the honey one is my fave.’
‘I’ll moisturize with the shea terra organics perfecting serum and doterra lavender oil. At night i’ll spot treat with raw shea butter. I use the raw elements sunblock pretty much everyday.’
‘The last slide is the herbs I took to get my skin under control (please do your research on herbs before you take them.’
She added that she only reapplies the moisturiser and suncream in the morning, and cleanses with the oil when she’s been wearing make-up. ‘If I didn’t wear makeup I would just leave my face alone all the time,’ she wrote.
‘I’m not saying that everyone has to do this to have decent skin. Commercial products may work for some people. But it didn’t for me. Just made things worse.’
Once again, Brianna’s post was flooded with messages from her followers, thanking her for being so candid about her skin and the affordable, accessible remedies she’d used to treat it.
‘I respect u for showing ur flaws! Ur even more beautiful for that ! Just wanted you to know,’ posted one, followed by another who added: ‘once I get the free time I’m definitely going to look into a natural treatment for my skin type! But this here is awesome!’
‘Great job !!!!’ a third exclaimed. ‘All the natural ingredients you displayed will definitely help with acne and maintenance care .
