As the audience sits patiently waiting for the next act to take the stage, three senior citizens with powdery white hair peer around the curtain from stage left. The theme song to the box office hit Star Wars begins playing and they traipse out onto the stage, bent over in half and clutching their aching backs. But the audience become suspicious of them since they’re each wearing matching white T-shirts, black pants, white socks and snazzy shiny black shoes. They painfully lift their legs into place and face the curtain with their backs to the crowd.
Sitting on the chairs in front of them are two signature items — a sequined shiny black hat and matching silver glove. The music segues into something soft and lilting as they put those props on, then they thrust their gloved hand into the air, grab their rear ends and prepare to amaze us. Michael Jackson’s hit song «Billie Jean» begins playing and this trio instantly hits Michael’s classic pelvic thrust move. They add in some fancy footwork including a grapevine and more thrusting that elicits peels of chuckles and guffaws from people in the crowd being thoroughly entertained by these three.
They clutch their hats and bend their heads down, then bust out in their version of the running man. We are all treated to a kick and a few squeals just like the superstar Michael himself did on stage. Their routine is absolutely comical and totally awesome at the same time. But they aren’t done yet — their gesture at the very end is just too funny not to watch! These residents of Leisure World in California are superstars in their own rights.
