Four years ago, Scheryl Silvio of Arizona hired a home health care provider to live with and care for her. But what was supposed to be a normal situation turned into a nightmare: Silvio’s wedding rings, her engagement ring, and gifts from her mother suddenly disappeared from her home. The ring was a prized possession, given to her by her late husband.
Silvio reported the incident to the authorities but eventually began to lose hope.
But recently, Silvio received the news she had been longing for, after for four long years.
Now 68 years old, the woman lives in a care home in Mesa, Arizona, and was informed that the care provider she had hired, 57-year-old Mary Louisa Gonzalez, whom she had accused of stealing her rings, had recently been arrested.
She had been sentenced to two and a half years for stealing jewelry belonging to her patients.
Silvio was one of many victims, with jewelry alleged to have been stolen from five other patients, amounting to nearly $30,000.
This past Tuesday, on February 21, Silvio was reunited with her stolen jewelry.
A special agent working with the Arizona Attorney General’s office recovered all that had been taken, and the grateful woman was given the chance to thank him.
