As we’re sure you already know, Ed Sheeran has recently released his first new album in a while, and the world has been swooning over it. With hit singles like “Castle on the Hill” and “Shape of You,” it’s hard not to be a fan. However, we can all agree that there is no way any of us are bigger fans of the UK singer-songwriter than 8-year-old Kai.
If you’re a fan of The Ellen DeGeneres Show there’s a pretty good chance you recognize this adorable kid. He’s appeared on the show before giving his best shot at covering pop hits by stars like Katy Perry and Bruno Mars.
It’s not just Kai’s passionate singing that you’ll fall in love with. He is seriously the sweetest. We almost died when he handed Ellen–whom he refers to as his first girlfriend–a handmade Valentine’s Day card. C’mon, does it get any sweeter than that?
Spoiler alert: It does!
Kai also serenaded his girlfriend with one of his favorite songs, which just so happens to be one of our favorites, too. There isn’t anything cuter than watching this little guy belt out Ed Sheeran’s hit song, “Thinking Out Loud.”
He may only be 8-years-old, but he really knows how to give his performances his all. Just watch as he gets lost in his performance.
He gave such a passionate, focused rendition of the song that he wasn’t even phased when the crowd became audibly more animated, clapping and cheering with excitement.
Besides Kai’s adorable performance, the studio audience was also cheering for the surprise guest that was sneaking up behind him.
Ed Sheeran was on set that day for a special Valentine’s Day performance, but we think that him surprising his adorable fan was the most special part of the whole show.
We couldn’t help but laugh a little and say “awww” when Kai got so lost in his performance that he didn’t even realize Sheeran was there.
You have to watch this video all the way through because the cutest part comes when Kai finally does realize that the worldwide pop star he looks up to is standing right behind him. He’s adorably starstruck!
And of course, that wasn’t the only surprise Ellen had for Kai. After all, she is his first girlfriend and it was Valentine’s Day. Trust us, you don’t want to miss this.
