Dancing is a beautiful sport. The way dancers use their bodies to express emotion and weave intricate stories is quite a sight to behold.
Some people are naturally born to dance. Others work their way up, training day in and day out to develop on their skill. Regardless, most professional dancers have years of experience, and it really shows when you watch them move.
In comparison, children probably couldn’t measure up to a trained adult dancer, right? Well, these two children in the video give adult dancers a run for their money.
Daniela Avanzini and Yasha Jeltuhin, aged four and five respectively, performed at the Atlanta Open where they danced the American Cha Cha.
Both of the children are students of Ana Llorente.
The Cha Cha was first introduced by a Cuban composer and violinist named Enrique Jorrin. Made in the 1950s, the name of the dance comes from the shuffling sound the dancer’s feet makes on the dance floor when performing the dance.
The Cha Cha is a widely popular dance, especially with it’s mention in DJ Casper’s catchy Cha Cha Slide song. The music associated with the Cha Cha is also enjoyable for those in the audience.
As soon as Daniela and Yasha begin their routine, the audience starts cheering. It’s amusing to see the little dancers move along the dance floor when they barely reach the knees of some of their fellow dancers around them. But the kids pay no attention to height and age difference.
With effortless confidence and grace, the pair step, dip and spin in perfect unison with each other. They really measure up to their adult counterparts.
If you think Yasha and Daniela look familiar, you might have seen them again, this time on the big screen. Their Atlanta Open performance was recorded on May 8th, 2009. In 2013, the pair auditioned for America’s Got Talent, where it’s clear their dancing talent has continued to be nurtured.
