This amazing creature lives in Thailand, where the government, along with the help of various environmental organizations, are trying to reduce the environmental factors causing this strange animal to be endangered. This results in a strange paradox, since human beings ourselves are responsible for putting them at risk in the first place.
The scientific name of this creature, known among locals as the painted bat or butterfly bat, is (Kerivoula picta). However, despite what you may think given its coloring, this animal is a rare species and incredibly hard to locate.
In fact, the images in this article were captured by a specialist team from the BBC which was sent to Thailand and after weeks of searching, was finally able to film this creature in flight and in slow-motion.
Another incredible fact is that, unlike their cousins, this type of bat moves their nest every few days. It’s also important to note that their flight speed is significantly less than that of other species of bats.
