Baby animals are so innocent and pure, it’s no wonder everyone on the internet is obsessed with animal birth videos!

Hippos are not naturally small creatures, so it is so cute seeing how little they are when they’re born. An adult pygmy hippo can weigh anywhere between 400 and 700 pounds.

Obi, a baby pygmy hippo, was born at the Melbourne Zoo in May 2015. The little one’s name means “heart” in the Nigerian Igbo language, and it is extremely fitting when you see him swimming! Your own heart will melt.

In the video, Obi follows his mom Petre out toward the zoo’s big pool of water. Despite how little his legs are, he moves pretty fast to get there!

It is no surprise that Obi is an absolute natural in the water. There is a reason the phrase “like a fish to water” is so cliche, though it should also apply to hippos!

Obi is Petre’s fourth child; she had three other babies at the Taronga Zoo before she was moved to Melbourne. I wonder if her other little ones love the water as much as Obi?

If you thought Obi was too cute for words, you’ll also love Bibi, a hippo that was born five weeks premature who became a huge sensation as she began to learn to walk all on her own.
